Location: Lebialem Highlands
The Cross River Gorilla Project was initiated in 2001 as the first ever pioneering conservation development initiative in the Lebialem Highlands region. It seeks to bring about long-term conservation of great apes and other mammal species as well as endangered birds. It also provides protection of lowland and mountain rainforest ecosystems across the highlands region and seeks to promote ecological restoration and other extremely sensitive and fragile ecologies in the region.
